Our apprentices work for an Advanced Qualification in Creative and Digital Media which is a Level 3 qualification – equivalent to two A levels. You do not need any specific qualifications to do this apprenticeship. You will be learning and developing the necessary skills required to be successful when working in creative and digital jobs. The Advanced Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media is a recognised qualification by employers in businesses such TV, radio, film, animation, digital and web design.
The majority of training takes place in the workplace and is tailored to ensure you develop the skills the company wants. This allows apprentices to have a real advantage in the workplace with better long term salary prospects and progression opportunities for either studying further or to advance within the company and the industry itself.
All apprenticeships are real jobs such as assisting a camera crew, radio broadcast assistant, production secretary and junior researcher. For more information on the full range of jobs covered by this Advanced Apprenticeship can be found at Creative Skillset. As an apprentice you will earn a salary of at least the national minimum apprenticeship wage – currently is £3.40 per hour – which applies to apprentices aged under 19 and those aged 19 and over in their first year. For apprentices who are 19 and over and have completed their first year you must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for your age. The rates are usually up dated every October so please check GOV.UK for current rates. However, some employers may pay more and apprentices should work for at least 30 hours per week. Our apprenticeship normally takes 12-18 months to complete.
Employers of apprentices should support the apprentice’s on-the-job learning utilising the skills and expertise of their workforce. They should also be involved in reviewing the progress of an apprentice.
